BURGUNDY |
| |
It is often
acclaimed that the world's greatest white wines are produced in
France's |
| |
Burgundy
region; an area rich in agriculture as well as history and wine
culture. |
| |
Geographically,
it stretches some 160 miles of vineyards from Auxerre in the North, |
| |
to the city
of Lyon in the South. The grape responsible for the wine is |
| |
Chardonnay.
These wines are fashioned from the "terroir" surrounding the |
| |
village,
town and vineyard from which it came, then taking on it's name.
White |
| |
Burgundies
are different in style from one another. The Chablis wines are |
| |
"steely-flinty",
crisp and refreshing, where the great Mersault and Montrachets
are |
| |
mouth-filling,
rich, elegant and full bodied. |
